English Philology (single or double major)

The three-year study includes literary studies (Introduction to Literary Theory, British Literature of the 19th and 20th  centuries, American Literature from the beginnings until the 1st half of the 20th century); Cultural Studies; Linguistics (Phonetics, Morphology, Syntax, Lexicology); and practical English language skills courses. An essential part of the programme consists of optional courses, which enable students to specialise.

Chinese Philology

BA in Chinese philology is the English version of the Czech study programme. The study is divided into three years, i.e. six semesters, during which students learn the basics of the Chinese language, with an emphasis on the spoken level. At the same time it also provides instructional minimum of the field of sinology. Study, after obtaining all the required attestation is completed by the state bachelor exam.

Jewish and Israeli Studies

The bachelor major Jewish and Israeli Studies is composed as interdisciplinary studies with module composition of subjects.
The extensive problems of Jewish and Israeli studies are presented in wide interdisciplinary spectrum using knowledge and methodology of established humanistic major (history, philosophy, sociology and political studies, theology, philology and art history). Jewish and Near East topics are alive both from the historical-sociological perspective and topical political-social context and therefore this major is perspective not only in the Czech Republic but also on the European level. Great emphasis is put on the instruction of foreign languages and their use in the instruction (modern Hebrew, biblical Hebrew, Yiddish, Arabic).
Standard length of the studies is 3 years. The studies are completed by a bachelor exam. The graduate of this bachelor major can continue his or her studies in the masters (magister) program: Jewish Studies: Jewish history and culture.

Deutsche Philologie

The three-year study includes literature studies (introduction to literary theory, history of the German literature); cultural studies; linguistics (phonetics, morphology, syntax, lexicology, methods of linguistics) and practical German language skills courses. An essential part of the programme consists of optional courses, which enable students to specialise. Students need an appropriate level of German language proficiency to be able to follow the courses and pass the exams (at least a B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
